How to Find the Missing Element to Your Own Success

I have a belief that business is like playing a jigsaw puzzle. No matter how successful you are, you have a certain missing element. Having a missing element is not all bad however. Be aware of the missing part and try to fill the missing link to form power to move forward as endless energy. Obviously, however, there are some points that we should be careful about. The most important factor is not to panic even if you find too many missing parts. If you stay calm and challenge all missing parts, you will successfully address the problem and fill in the missing link.

Think starting a company for your own business. You just open the base paper of the puzzle. You have not even picked up a piece of the puzzle. Some people feel panicky; some enjoy it as a challenge. It may be the first step to address and fill one's lacking elements if you are an entrepreneur. To make the model simpler, let us focus on an entrepreneur. How does the entrepreneur find his missing parts to his success, and successfully address it.

Now, we need to consider why someone cannot be successful in business. There will be a list of reasons. One does not have enough money. He does not have cooperative staff. He does not have the required knowledge and background education. He does not have enough knowledge of the market. The list goes on and on. All these things could be missing links. However, before addressing these micro elements, he should be fully aware that there is just one missing thing that he is not fully aware of - passion. If one has passion, he would not mind challenging all these missing links and solving them.

The first business person during the Meiji era in Japan was named Yataro Iwasaki. Yataro was originally from a Samurai family. He was educated in how to use swords, how to fight, and how to be a good samurai. He did not know anything about business. But one thing he had that most of us do not was passion. He wanted be a merchant so badly that his motivation propelled him to become an entrepreneur. Although he did not make any money from the first several attempts, he did not give up. He continued to search for what he was lacking and to improve himself. He became a real businessman as the founder of Mitsubishi Corporation, which is, to this day, the largest company in Japan.

Yataro Iwasaki's story clearly shows us one thing. If we are just copying or following somebody else, if we are skeptical about what we are doing, or if we constantly doubt our own success, we are more than 99% likely to fail. Instead, if we are passionate, faithful, and confident about what we attempt, our success is almost guaranteed. The rest will follow. The author's advice to those lacking in any area is "Go back to the original question: Am I as passionate as I was in the beginning?"

Zhen International, Inc. *zi* Site Renewal

I have been lazy renewing our own company website, "Zhen International, inc. *zi*".  The main reason was we have been busy taking care of websites of others, not our own.  This time, I am pleased to notify that we renewed and reopened our business website.

Since I could get "zhenintl.com", it became our main URL Domain Name.  Please refer to the below image for sneak preview of our new website.

The below image is English Site, Home Page.
The points of renewal this time were:

1.  Enhanced cross-reference between English Page and Japanese Page.
2.  Update the business focus.  The focus now is "Building Multi-Lingual Websites.
3.  Related outer links were updated and focused based on business focus.
4.  Increased flexibility providing "Landing Page" in addition to legacy Home Page or index.html
5.  Strengthened communication capability by providing more "Comment" forms.

English:
http://zhenintl.com/index.html
Japanese:
http://zhenintl.com/index_J.htmll

Right Image is Japanese Home Page.  Previous "zhenintl.ws" is also kept accessible to the same webpage as "zhenintl.com".  "WS" URLs are as follows:

English:
http://zhenintl.ws/index.html
Japanese:
http://zhenintl.ws/index_J.html

Ip Man Fought For Dignity

"Ip Man" is a Chinese kung fu master in Foshan and Hong Kong, China. He was not well-known until the movie "Ip Man" was released in early 2010. He was born in 1893 and started his kung fu training at the late age of 13. His master could recognize Ip Man's talent. His master's dying message was he wished he would be able to continue to train him. He continued to learn from his master's top student after his master died.

His kung fu style is Wing Chun. Wing Chun was a branch of Tai Chi started by a woman, named Wing Chun, who learned Tai Chi to defend herself from people who tried to harass her. Her teacher gave her the basics of Tai Chi instead of full training. Being talented in martial arts, she developed her own style based on the training from her teacher. This historical background gave this style of martial arts the advantage of short and accurate strokes, speed, and flexibility. It is in contrast with the Northern's style Shao Lin, or Karate with long strokes, strength, and power. It also has a unique definition of fighting with many people, to face them one-by-one, instead of trying to fight the group as a whole.

Ip Man was a calm and friendly person with a caring spirit. Although he did not have any intentions to use his martial arts skills for fighting, he continuously helped his friends, neighbors, and the people in the city. Then World War II began when Japan invaded China.

Soon Ip Man started to have a problem against the Japanese army. In the beginning, he did not show his martial arts ability. At the end of the movie, Ip Man needed to fight against the Japanese soldiers in order to protect the Chinese citizens. A Japanese General noticed his strength and skill level because the general was a master of Japanese style himself. The general asked Ip Man to teach his Wing Chun to Japanese soldiers. He answered that the Japanese were abusing the spirit of martial arts; he had no martial arts to teach to such individuals. When he was asked to fight with the general, he said he would fight for the sake of the dignity of Chinese people.

Ip Man defeated the Japanese general who showed his dignity. He needed to flee to Hong Kong, whereas the people continued to ask him to teach them Wing Chun. He decided to open his Wing Chun school. His students included prominent kung fu fighters including a young Chinese boy called Li Xiao Long, later known as Bruce Lee.

My God Will Save Me

The other day, my wife told me a joke about a relationship between people and Higher Power. There was a man thrown out of his ship by accident. He was floating on the ocean. His crew did not notice that he fell into the ocean. Later, his family gave notice to the vessel crew, and they sent a help signal to the ships nearby. A fishermen's boat was close. It came to rescue him. The person, floating on the ocean, told the fishermen that he did not need their help. The fishermen asked why. He answered, "Do not worry. My God will save me."

The coast guard sent a rescue ship. When the rescue ship reached him, he repeated his answer that he did not need their help because his God would save him. A rescue helicopter arrived at the scene. He was still stubborn to repeat his position that he would wait for his God to save him.

A long time passed. He died. After his death, he met his God and asked Him why He had not saved him. His God answered that He had sent a fisherman's boat, a rescue vessel, and a rescue helicopter, but he did not take any of them.

My mother-in-law laughed at the story, but I could not. It is a funny story, but there is a point that we would not be able to simply laugh or shrug off, and forget. It is a misunderstanding any human being will make, as this poor person did. It is a misunderstanding that our interpretation is absolutely correct. Do we not think our spouse is always wrong during a family argument? How often do we admit that we were wrong?

When we make serious decisions, we tend to think that there is no other choice. We hope and believe our choice is the best. We should not forget, however, that there are many choices. We would be able to come up with many other choices if we were not directly involved in the matter. Our views would be subjective, opinionated, and prejudiced. Our decisions may be based on our hopes and wishes that things will work in our favor.

Let us not be misguided by our misunderstanding. Since we are human beings, our thoughts and decisions may be wrong. We should be fully aware of this before we make any important decision. There is no such a thing as "absolute righteousness" in human thinking. Upon making an important decision, we should think twice, or seek an opinion of a neutral third-party.

Jokes, Humor, and Comedy in a Foreign Language

Among various foreign language skills, humor is the most difficult to master for non-native speakers. In the Tokyo head office of my previous company, I worked with an American named Neal who graduated from a university in Tokyo. His Japanese speech skills were excellent; he did not have any problems with everyday situations and words. Our boss invited Neal and me to his home for dinner. On TV was a Japanese comedy program featuring a famous Japanese comedian. He said, "Do you understand? You do not understand." Our boss, his family, and I all laughed, but Neal did not. Later Neal asked me why that phrase was funny. There is actually nothing funny about the expression; it was that comedian's favorite saying. Whenever he said it, every Japanese person laughed.

In my former employer's New York office, there was a general affairs staff member who took pictures of all newcomers to the office. She was photographing a young Japanese employee who had just arrived. She introduced herself as Trish and he asked if her name was "Trash." Trish was not happy and repeated her name several times. The Japanese employee did not associate the word "trash" with "garbage" until someone explained. He bought Trish and her friends lunch the next day.

Another friend of mine was humorous and witty.

Her name is Sue Crucy. When she first went to Japan on a business trip, she practiced her Japanese and memorized a greeting. In her Japanese greeting, she said, "My name is Sue Crucy. You can remember my name to be Sue Crazy." All the Japanese who met her laughed. Laughter is the most effective icebreaker, even in a cross-cultural environment. Sue became famous after her first trip. Fortunately for her and her Japanese business colleagues, nobody remembered her as "Sue Crazy." They all remembered her name correctly. I was amazed and impressed by her wit.

Even in the same language, jokes and humor can vary from generation to generation. My mother, who is 81 years old, never understands my jokes. When my mother jokes and laughs with her friends, I can never understand why they are laughing. I don't even have a clue why their jokes are funny. Our sense of humor is a part of our culture. Anyone who can properly exhibit a sense of humor in a non-native language can be considered to have mastered the second language. Without understanding the cultural background, non-native speakers are not able to understand jokes properly.

Article Writing for International Authors

It has been more than three years since I started to write and submit my articles in article submission sites. Since English is not my first language, it was not easy for me to continue writing in English. My problems include not just English but also topics, contents, messages, and time. Time is always running against me. An author is always under pressure to write an article in a short time without sacrificing the contents. A writer would never be able to secure enough time to write an article that satisfies him.

Since I have reached the highest level for an author in an English article submission site, I would like to take a moment to advise international authors whose native language is not English.

First, in selecting an article submission site, my recommendation is that an international author should choose one that has strict rules on article content and language. Although an international author would struggle at first, because the site regulations and rules are stringent and exacting, such as he cannot publish whatever he writes, his English ability and communication skill would significantly improve along the way.

I have three suggestions for selecting an article submission site:

1. Select a site that has strict policies and rules, especially on the language.
2. Select a site that provides a program requiring continuous submission of articles.
3. Select a site that recognizes your effort.

After writing an article, an international writer needs a proofreading service to correct the English, logical arrangement, and content of his topic. There are also sites offering software-editing services.

Although I found the machine services useful to understanding grammar and basic rules, I discovered that they are unable to check whether one's writing sounds natural. I recommend using sites that provide human proofreading services. Only native speakers can check to see if your English sounds natural or not.

I actually use both software and a human proofreading site to check my writing. Here are four tips for selecting a proofreading service:

1. Understand that software proofreading services cannot check whether your English sounds natural or is even grammatically correct.
2. Software proofreading services can still be useful for checking your grammar and learning the basic grammatical rules of the language.
3. Only native-speaking human proof-readers can check to see if your English sounds natural. It is better to use proofreading services that use people to write articles themselves.
4. Sometimes you may want to ask questions about corrections. It would be ideal if the service had a two-way communication option.

My English improved considerably during this process and I earned the highest-level author position. It is worth continuing English article marketing. If you are an international writer and struggling, do not give up; you will be successful if you continue to strive.

EzineArticles, I was upgraded to be "Platinum Author" status!

It was almost 3 years ago when I took membership of EzineArticles.com.  I wrote several articles for my company's brand promotion.  My 1st one was accepted, but 2nd one was rejected.  I have almost given up to have my articles accepted.  A good friend of mine recommended me to keep writing in EzineArticles and reopened writing and submitting.  As an international writer and non-native English author, it was not so easy to keep writing in English.  But, this time, I was determined to continue.  I took part in "One hundred articles in one hundred days (#HAHD)" article marathon.  My first trial failed miserably.  In my second trial, I could write, submit, have accepted 100 articles in 100 days.

EzineArticles has 3 ranks of their authors, namely, "Basic", "Basic Plus", and "Platinum".  Due to English problem, I have been kept in "Basic Plus" status for long time.  It looked as though impossible to become a "Platinum" level author.  After successful participation in previous #HAHD, I started to seriously study how I could be a "Platinum" author.  I changed proofreading site. I read my own articles 3-4 times before submitting.  I proofread myself on logic in my article, first time.  In the second time, I checked if my English sounded natural for me.  I started to use web-service for grammar check and proofread again after the site check finished.  Then I submitted for a third party proofreading site.

In past 25 submission, none of my articles was rejected because of English reason.  It was good sign.  Today after I came back from a business meeting, EzineArticles notified me that I was upgraded to be "Platinum Author" status.  I was really glad at this news.  As a non-native English speaker, sometimes I thought I had been day dreaming something impossible.  Actually, my articles were rejected so many times because of English reasons.  Once my entire account was suspended because too many English mistakes.  Now I am glad that I did not give up.  I encourage advanced non-native English speaker to challenge this EzineArticles and #HAHD, since it provide us of good challenge and serious improvement.
