Management elements change from time to time. Basic Elements, however, have not changed for a long time. Recently, even these basic elements have been affected due to development of Internet communication.

If one has involved in company management, he might have learned that there are 3 important resources of company management. i) People (basically employee, or Human Resources), ii) Products, and iii) Money (Fund, Capitals, Expenses, or Spending)

The resource can look like a triangle. They are interactive each other. It goes without saying the importance of people for business. It is quite self-explanatory model, including money and products. Now these Management Elements are changing to be "5 Management Elements" instead of basic 3.

It appears the importance of these 3 elements has not changed much in Internet age. One can call them classical management elements. They are there in the new model. What are 5 elements, then? Because of the change of communication media, centered on Internet, people's mind, business behavior, available business tools, market elements, or management resources are no longer 3.

One needs to understand the following 5 elements of management and make use of them, in addition to legacy 3 elements. 4th is "Information". 5th is "Branding". Now the elements look like satellite system. Center, like the Sun, is "People". Satellite planets going around the "People" are "Information", "Branding", "Products", and "Money".

Obviously, 5 elements model replaced 3 elements, since no one can ignore the power of "Information", through Internet. Branding is no longer only for a big organization with a lot of money. People can easily band themselves through broadcasting tools in Internet. In this way, the importance of "People Elements", namely Information and Branding, are increasing in management and marketing models. People do not have to spend large amount of money for Information and Branding. The ones who can manage information and brand will win the next game.

Business is a series of action helping others. Still, "People" is always the center of these elements or any other factors in business. This basic is unchangeable. Business or selling is a mechanism or ruled game. Who makes this mechanism moving? Who participates in the game? PEOPLE does. The Idea was that People being the center of the entire operation managing "Information" and "Brand" promote the flow of "Products" and "Money".

The difference, from the traditional 3 elements model, is "People" is not sitting on the top of other elements, but accessing and utilizing all other 4 elements. "People" is not necessarily the master. They are still the center of all the elements. Instead of "People" are equally positioned in legacy 3 elements model, in the new model, "People" is the center and access all other elements. In the period of change, "People" element increases its value and importance, gaining more tools and resources.

Japan Town, San Francisco, is located near center of the city. When one drives on Geary from east approaching Van Ness, one begins to see 5 stories Japanese style Pagoda. There is an office of National Japanese Association on Post Street, if one is interested in learning Japanese American History. There is a lot of Japanese monuments in Japan Town. The symbolic is the tower located in North Center of Japan Town on Post Street. It says "Japan Town" in Japanese.

This tower copies Fire Watching Tower in Japan. In Edo period of Tokugawa Shogun Government, volunteer and professional fire fighters were watching fires from the top of the tower. When they find a fire, ring the bell inside and alarm residents and signal fire fighters depart from the base station.

The most symbolic in Japan Town is the Japanese style 5 stories Pagoda. Pagoda was built to preserve and save Buddha bones after he deceased. This Pagoda is in the Center Square of 2 main buildings in Japan town. The square is a good place for having lunch with your friend in weekdays. The square today was full of young Asian tourists.

There is a wall on the Geary Street side of Japan Town, between main 2 buildings in the area. The wall was quite solemn. There are 2 Chinese Characters engraved on the wall. The Characters, on the wall, mean "Peace" in Japanese. This square is for preserving and recording what happened in the World War II to teach people how war can affect people.

In Japan Town, Street Names are shown both in English and Japanese. Japan Town is the unique place to find the street names are shown in both languages. I cannot believe 2 countries have a history of war in taking a look at this arrangement.

Walking into the one of 2 main buildings, one would not believe that he still is in the US. One feels like walking in some shopping mall in down town Tokyo, such as Shinjuku.

There are lots of Japan related shops, such as Kimono (Japanese Traditional Clothes) Shops, Japanese Traditional Dram Training Place, Japanese Antique Shops, or Japanese Restaurants. Everybody loves Sushi restaurant in Japan Town, San Francisco.

In the US, historically an immigrant's country, it is not so hard to find any ethnicity. Japan is not an exception. The most typical is Japan Town, but even without visiting Japan Town, San Francisco, there are Japan anywhere in Bay Area.

Driving on El Camino Real, which runs across California as a historic drive, one can find an Authentic Japanese Garden, in Central Park San Mateo. The person who designed, built, and maintained is 1st generation Japanese gentleman. His name is Sam. Sam came to US, when he was 10 years old.

After he had changed his job several times, San Mateo County hired him. Until he retired, he was the main person who took care of the Japanese Garden. In winter, he took out all the carps from the pound and changed water. In the spring, he took care of flowers and sharp wood branch tips so that children who play there were not hurt. Even after his official retirement, he goes to his garden and make sure everything is in order. His constant care and effort kept the garden beautiful.

Pets give us a lot of enjoyment, smiles, laughter, relaxation, refreshment, new meaning of life, and sense of responsibility. Any pet animal is sweet and adorable. Cats are independent and dependent at the same time. In that sense, a cat is low maintenance, but adorable. Dogs are relatively high maintenance. An owner of a dog needs to walk his dog at least twice a day. He needs to take his dog to a dog park some times. His dog barks when he is on a phone. His dog begs for his food when the owner is eating. Despite of high-maintenance feature, people love dogs.

One can find a dog is attractive because he can interact with his dog. A dog responds to its owner almost as it knows how its owner feels. When one feel depressed his dog comes to lick his fingers to cheer him up. When one feels happy, his dog barks, runs, and jumps to show the owner how happy it is. A dog listens its family's conversation. It sometimes looks like giving its owner some advice. It gives him a help one-way or the other.

There were considerable numbers of dog movies. Many of them are good stories. 101 Dalmatians is a classic. Beethoven was very funny. K9 was terrific, too. "Marley and me" is an excellent family movie. There is a Japanese movie, which will make people cry. Its title is "10 promises to my dog". Opening of the film catches one's eyes and ears. It says:

"God created human beings. Next day, God found they are very vulnerable. He decided give them dogs."

The movie released in Japanese Theaters in March 2008. This is about the relationship between a girl who lost her mother and her dog, golden retriever puppy. The girl's mother before she died taught her girl how to build a relationship with her new puppy, "Socks". The following is the list:

1. Listen patiently to what I have to say.
2. Trust me, for I am always on your side.
3. Play with me a lot.
4. Do not forget that I have feelings too.
5. Let's never fight, 'Cause someday, I'll be big enough to win.
6. If I do not obey you, I have a good reason.
7. You have school, and friends. But as for me, I only have you.
8. Stay my best friend even when I'm old.
9. I'll only live about ten years; so let's make every moment count.
10. I'll never forget our life together. So when my time comes, please be by my side.

They are promises with her dog. All of them, however, are beneficial for human relationship. If the reader is a dog lover, he will love it.

This is a controversial proverb. Generally it means that the people who change their occupations often do not obtain a particular professional skill. The other interpretation is that people who pursue new challenges never get old and dull, but stay young and fresh. We have never known a proverb that has such different interpretations. The Japanese version of this proverb, in its negative form, is same as the English version. Most likely, the Japanese version was translated from the original English. The version with a positive meaning in Japanese is, "When the stream of a river is fast, the water does not go bad."

Hanako was a dreamer. She had many dreams. She wanted to be a window decorator. She hoped to have a job in a Web creation business. Sometimes she thought simply marrying a person whom she loved would not be a bad idea. She graduated from college and started working as a secretary for an executive in an electronics company. She liked her job, but she could not give up her dream of having a creative job. To this end, she attended design school after work.

Hanako had a friend named Minori. She did not consider herself clever. After finishing her study of English literature, Minori continued to study English, and became an English-Japanese translator. Her translation speed was not fast, but she worked with attention to detail and made few mistakes. She did not take more work than she could handle, but for the jobs she did take, her translations were detailed and thorough. She gradually became popular. She began getting offers for jobs in the academic translation field.

As a one of the leading professionals of the age, Minori was interviewed by a TV program. Hanako watched Minori receive VIP treatment in the program and envied her. Hanako had been unable to get a creative job. She had changed her job several times. She found herself lacking professionalism in many things. Well, she thought, if nothing works, I will find a partner and marry him.

Minori did not look very pretty on TV. She was wearing a dark-colored suit like a man would wear. Her suit was dark gray and did not match her shirt. Her hair was not well styled; it was just tied back on her head. Hanako thought herself more attractive than Minori.

Which woman do you find more attractive? The bottom line is that everybody is different and everybody is attractive, as long as they live their lives to the full extent.

In the first century, three kingdoms were fighting to unify China. The first kingdom, the Wei, was the largest and strongest; the second was the Wu; and the third was the Shu Han. Liu Bei was the first king of the Shu Han, fighting against Cao Cao, the king of the Wei. Liu Bei mostly allied with Sun Quan, the king of the Wu (who was against the large, strong Wei). The Wei controlled a large area in the northern region of China. The Wu were situated in the southwest. Liu Bei was the last to form his own kingdom.

Liu Bei had a problem. Although he had brave and loyal generals, who were his sworn brothers, he did not have a strategist or a statesman to help him command his army and run his country. Liu Bei heard about a young, but capable, man named Tsuge Liang, who was not only a military strategist, but also a visionary theorist on politics. Tsuge Liang had been asked to work for the Wei and the Wu as one of their top strategists. He had not accepted their invitation since he did not agree with their policies.

Bei desperately hoped for Tsuge Liang to join his team. He knew that it would be difficult to persuade Liang accept his offer because Liang would not be moved by political rhetoric; he was not interested in making money. Bei decided to visit Liang alone in person. Liang lived a thousand miles away in the mountains. The winter season saw snow fall that year. Bei traveled to Liang's, only to find he was not home.

He said he would be back and returned to his hotel. On the second day he returned to Liang's house, knowing that he would be out. His intention was to tacitly tell the family how badly Bei wanted Liang. On the third day, Bei met Liang for the first time. Liang agreed to work for Bei.

Tsuge Liang brought Liu Bei victory in several critical battles against Wei. Liang enabled Liu to build his own kingdom and become the first king. He made the country both wealthy and peaceful. When Liu was on his deathbed, he told Liang that he wanted Liang to support his son, but only if Liang believed that his son was capable of becoming the second king. Bei told him that if Liang found his son was not good enough to become the second king, Liang should get rid of his son and become the second king himself. Liang swore that he would dedicate his life to supporting Bei's son. Shu Han continued to be wealthy and prosperous, fighting effectively against two rival countries until the time of Liang's death. The story of Liu Bei and Tsuge Liang gives us profound advice about the importance of selecting, recruiting, and working with a partner.

There was an extraordinarily talented young pianist. He was a child prodigy. He was 15 years old. He could play piano better than anybody else around him. His skill was so prominent that he could be professional piano player right then. One day he was practicing piano with his teacher. He was playing minor romantic music. His performance was excellent. He did not make any mistake until he finished entire music. The teacher, however, was frowning. She told the boy that his she felt something missing though his skill was perfect. After the teacher had thought a while, she told the boy that stop practicing piano for a month or so. She asked the boy to find a girl friend and experience love. When the boy came back to his teacher, his performance was better than perfect and moved so many people listening.

Empathy is the one the boy needed most. Not be just limited to the world of music, the same can be found in mind training of Zen or Martial Arts. Mind training is essential. If it is without purpose of use, however, knowledge will be just a sequence of memory in our brain existing in chronological order. If we try to show knowledge without purpose, we are just showing-off. Fighting skills in Martial Arts, without mind training for proper use, are nothing different from keeping a loaded gun without safety catch on in your pocket. It will harm others and oneself, soon or later.
One is Masamune, and the other is Muramasa. Masamune built his swards only by orders. He studied customers and did not accept orders from violent people or assassins. He liked his work, but he did not like his swords to be just killing tool. His work always started, in the morning, with prayers and meditations. He always prayed God to help him to build swords, which can help people, not kill people.

Muramasa was different. He always emphasized on his talent. He could never be satisfied with his skills. He always brushed up his skills. He continued to think and make swords, which are sharp to cut almost anything. He believed swords are killing equipment after all. The sharper swords the better for him. He was trying to build swords, which can cut off bones, woods, stones, and even steels. He did not pray for God. He did not believe in any spirituality.

One day, a local king who was also a martial arts master, compared swords from these 2 sword smiths. This master held a sword putting the cutting edge up, asked his assistance to drop a paper on the edge. When he tried Muramasa first, the sword cut the paper, dropped on the sword, in half. It appeared that the paper did not even touch the edge. It was sharp. He tried Masamune next. Dropped paper landed on the cutting edge sitting there still. When this master prayed in his mind, putting his spirit into the sword, to cut the paper, without moving his arms, the sword cut the paper in half and the cut paper fell to the ground.

Today, people respect Masamune as a holly craftsman. Tokugawa Shoguns loved his swords, and kept them as their protecting spirit. Many swords smiths or craftsmen worship him and use him for their protection to be successful craftsmen. His successors inherited his name for more than 200 years. His name represents Japanese sword even in modern Japan.

On the other hand, swords by Muramasa killed several rulers in 16th and 17th centuries. They believed swords by Muramasa as cursed, haunted, and despised. Tokugawa Shogun hated Muramasa as their enemy weapon. The history shows that his swords killed both Tokugawa family people and their enemies. There are 2 swords are kept in museums, but most of Muramasa disappeared in the darkness of Japanese history. People remember Muramasa cursed and haunted. He still carries eerie title, Spooky Muramasa.

All the states in US have nicknames. New York is Empire State. New Jersey is Garden State. California is Golden State. Its nickname came from the California Gold Rush in the history of US. California Gold Rush started on January 24, 1848, when a carpenter and sawmill operator, James Wilson Marshall (October 8, 1810 - August 10, 1885) discovered gold in Sutter's Mill in California. This discovery triggered more than three hundred thousand people in and out of United States of America rushed to Northern California. It set the nickname of California to be Golden State. Because the number of miners came to California reached its peak period in 1849, all minors were called "Forty-Niners". Later it became the name of San Francisco Football team.

It is about three hours drive to visit the original area of California Gold Rush. One can use Interstate 580 East, Interstate 205 East, Interstate 5 North, Route 99, and Route 88 to reach Sutter Creek. Just right before driving into the mining area, visitor can get a rest in downtown of Sutter Creek. California Gold Rush created people's movement to the West Coast and formed a period of Wild West. The downtown of Sutter Creek keeps appearance of days of gunmen.

Fifteen minutes drive takes him to the entrance of Gold Mines. The Mine is now only for sightseeing purpose. They are not digging gold any more. There are no flashy signs or Las Vegas style neon signs. However, since it is original entrance, a visitor should respect it as the testimony of the history. The gate shows "Mine Tour", but the entrance is small and old. The visitor should be careful not to overlook the entrance to the parking, since there are no direction signs to which the driver can refer.

The tour provides visitors a tram tour to the deep area of the mine. The inside of mine is lighted, but some parts are dim to be almost dark. There are area brightly lighted and have wax dolls showing days minors were working. Entering into the cave, the first thing one will see is a bird in a cage. Now in the Mine Tour, the person and the bird are imitation of wax dolls. It shows that they kept a bird to know when gas is spreading in the mine. The poor bird is the one first die to let minors know there is a danger of gas.

Although minors inside are wax dolls, they exhibit real machine tools and hardware. Many of them look heavy and awkward. Inside of the gold mine looks complicated structure. A visitor finds a deep straight down-hole after long gentle down slope continues for a distance. It shows that they did not have a specific plan of digging. They dug in the way the gold vein guided miners.

A guide tells the authority is estimating still two hundred million ounce gold lies underground. Now the visitor must answer the last question of the tour guide if he hopes to be a minor.
San Francisco Restaurant Review

We took Friday off this weekend. It was a family celebration day. We wanted to have something notable, because it was 3-day-weekend. As any other weekends, we went to 24 hour fitness for exercise in the morning. We took a 2 classes of exercise in our fitness club, Boot Camp and Dance for 2 hours, sweat some. We came home from exercise, took shower, relaxed, then call the restaurant for reservation.

This restaurant is "Tanh Long", in Sunset, San Francisco. We have known this restaurant famous for Crabs. Since we both love crabs, we decided to go to this restaurant.

"Tanh Long" is the sister restaurant of a restaurant in downtown San Francisco, "Crustacean". "Crustacean" is high-class, business setting, and relatively expensive restaurant. My office colleagues took us to "Crustacean". The master chef of Crustacean told us about the sister restaurant "Tanh Long", which is more family oriented type restaurant with almost same menu as Crustacean.

Their recommendation is same as ours, which is "Garlic Roasted Whole Crab". They have a different style of crab cooking from what San Franciscans are familiar with. Crabs were simply boiled in seawater in Fisherman's Wharf restaurants. This restaurant roasts whole crab with lots of garlic and oils.

It is so different and tastes superb. That is why people keep coming despite it was highest priced item on the menu. The location of this restaurant is on the corner between Judah and 47th street, downtown San Francisco. Outside does not appear to be an excellent restaurant, but inside is elegant and clean. This was original restaurant of these 2 successful sister restaurants in San Francisco, opened by a Vietnamese Gentleman. My memory of dining in Vietnam does not tell me anything similar served in Vietnam. It may be Vietnamese food made in San Francisco. Benihana style BBQ is not exactly made in Japan, made in New York, instead.

"Roast Crab", "Tiger Prawn", and "Garlic Noodle" were our selection on that day. Eating this crab, or any crab, you cannot do anything other than keep eating until you finish the crab, since your hands and fingers will be full of oil, garlic, meats, and shells. You cannot even pick up silvers or wine glasses. We spend there for two and half hours. It was long dinner, with not so much conversation. We do not need much conversation for enjoying delicious foods. Japanese sales people suggest that you would select a crab restaurant if you need to dine with a difficult customer. Your difficult customer will be quiet during dinner, because he was busy eating the crab. How true it is!

"Thanh Long" restaurant is located on the corner of Judah and 47th Street. "Crustacean" location is Polk and California. You can search them in Internet by their names and location; "Thanh Long, San Francisco" and "Crestacean, San Francisco".
Although it is not so easy to satisfy Japanese taste, which is not so easy to please on seafood, none of my Japanese friends has complained on seafood in Bay Area. Sushi is delicious, while Sashimi materials are always fresh. Some commented that seafood in San Francisco would have been better than those in Japan.

People love San Francisco. They love this city for several reasons. The city is truly romantic place. Variety of ethnicity is making city activities unusually colorful. New to Bay Area does not have to feel lonesome because he would find his ethnicity for sure here. There are several unique types of scenery in Bay Area including the world famous Golden Gate Bridge. Night view of the city is as impeachable as New York City.

Another reason to love San Francisco is its foods. As so much ethnicity is here, so as a variety of foods. It goes without saying about Chinese, there are so many others, such as Thai, Japanese, Micronesian, Italian, French... List goes on and on. They all are authentic and fantastic. Chinese food in Bay Area is superb. So is Japanese. Although my personal favor is New York Italian, Italian here is as delicious as New York or Chicago.

We cannot forget American Food. Hamburgers, Hot dogs, Pizza, and everything you want are available. Any seafood is delicious, but especially San Francisco style seafood is my recommendation. If you stay in a hotel, in Union Square, you could use Cable Car to go to Fisherman's Wharf. I have never seen this place is not crowded. It appears that there are visitors from the world here, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year.

There are lots of out-door eating-stand style restaurants of Dungeness Crabs and Seafood's in Fisherman's Wharf. My suggestion is Salt Water Boiled Dungeness Crab and Clam Chowder Soup local Sour Dough. These are menu, which you cannot find anywhere else. You will love Clam Chowder Soup in Sour Dough Lunch set. This is our favorite. My wife is going to be terribly angry if I finish Clam Chowder Soup during she is just attacking her crab.

Again, Bay Area is extremely romantic place with lots of histories, scenery, natures, oceans, and mountains. This city is unique in ethnic delicacies, too. The city is the best place to enjoy Chinese foods. At the same time, Italian restaurants here are fabulous. Japanese Sushi is compatible with those in Tokyo or New York. Seafood, centered on Dungeness Crab, is of the best in the world.

The variety of foods that can be enjoyed in San Francisco is remarkably broad: Italian, Middle Eastern, Chinese, Japanese, Malaysian, Indonesian, and Vietnamese. However, I cannot list them all. Even compared to New York City, San Francisco's variety of food does not lose its excellence.

In addition, the cost for enjoying these fabulous foods is amazingly reasonable. I consider buffet-style restaurants to be the most cost-effective. About two years ago, we found an extremely good Asian cuisine buffet restaurant, the Beijing Buffet, close to the San Francisco Airport. I referred to several rating sites before writing this article, and the ratings varied from person to person. However, the general rating was average. My own experience at this restaurant has been good, and my wife and mother-in-law love it as well. Because my wife is a Chinese American who was born in China, her sense of taste for authentic Chinese foods is trustworthy.

My wife and I like this place because of the size of the buffet and the variety of foods offered. There are five large buffet tables that keep the food warm. Along the right wall of the square restaurant is the counter for sushi, sashimi, shrimp, crab, and fresh seafood. The other counter carries both warm and cold Asian and European deserts. At the end of the desert counter, there are ice cream self-dispensers that offer the following flavors: vanilla, chocolate, or a mixture of both.

Each buffet table has its own food categories:
1) warm vegetables and cold salads,
2) fish and seafood,
3) Chinese and American-style poultry,
4) fried rice, noodles, and rice soup, and
5) steamed, fried, or boiled pot stickers and Chinese-style meat buns.

Some restaurants offer a regular menu in addition to a buffet. Beijing Buffet does not have regular menu. However, a BBQ counter is a part of the buffet service offered by this restaurant. They have a buffet menu for both lunch and dinner. My wife is not very excited about BBQ, but I love it. It is like ordering an omelet to your taste during breakfast at a hotel. The buffet includes choices of beef, pork, chicken, shrimp, fish, vegetables, tomatoes, bean sprouts, and more. Although some buffet-style restaurants do not have lobsters or crabs at lunch, this place offers all types of foods for both lunch and dinner.

You also can ask the chef to make your dish spicier, sweeter, or saltier. Mr. Choi, who works in the BBQ section, became my friend because he thinks that I request more choices in my food than other people. If you like grilled fish or jumbo shrimp, you can ask to have it skewered. If you want to eat Chinese buns, which are called pao, Mr. Choi can grill them for you. He makes pao with only pork, pork and vegetable pao, and pao with only vegetables, or sweet pao.

Finally, you can order Chinese egg noodles grilled with your choice of meat, seafood, vegetables, or a combination of these options. You can also choose thick egg noodles, thin egg noodles, or rice noodles.

Stability of mind is one of them. Sense of balance is another one. Strength of mind is essential factor as well. There are several movies even not serious ones, which talks about how mentality affects our lives and business. I watched Karate Kid several times. Not only because I practice Karate, but also because there are several elements that the movie can convey. Importance of Determination is one of them clearly shown in this movie in my opinion.

Going to details of the movie will be avoided other than related parts. The boy, Daniel, was sensitive type high school kid. Other strong and big guys looked down on him and punching, kicking, tossing him around. He did not like it. But he could not help accepting them because he knew that he could not fight against them. He visited Karate Dojo, but he could not join the school. He could not have enough courage.

It is not my main point of this article, many Karate masters who I know were like him when their school days. They did not like themselves being fooled by others due to the weakness, smallness, shortness, and they hated themselves to be coward. That is why they determined to practice Karate, train themselves, and being strong. Their motivation was first to effectively fight against those who fooled them. But later they change their purposes to defend themselves and family as Karate spirits gradually melt into their brain and spine.

Let us go back to the boy. One night, he was surrounded by these big guys and beaten up to the extent that he could be hospitalized. Master Miyagi appeared and defeated all big boys and saved the boy, Daniel. Mr. Miyagi is not big guy and he looked like just an ordinary old person. Daniel was impressed by Master Miyagi and asked him to teach Karate.

Mr. Miyagi was reluctant firstly. Karate is not for fighting back. It is only for defense. Finally Master Miyagi accepted his desire and told the boy that he will teach Daniel Karate. Here is the scene. Next morning Master Miyagi asks Daniel if he is ready. He answered, "Maybe". Master Miyagi told the boy it is wrong answer. He continues that he is safe if he walks on the right side of a road. He is safe If he walks left side of the road. But he will be soon or later run over by a car if he wonders around in the middle of the road (without deciding right or left). Master Miyagi further continues, "If you do not do Karate, you are safe. If you do Karate, OK. But if you do Karate, may be, it is like walking the middle of the road. Soon or later you will be run over and killed.

I was impressed by this lesson. Is there any thing we do not do with absolute determination in our lives? Is not it the reason why we do not succeed doing it?

When one stayed in the same environment, he got so much used to it that he took it granted. It would be okay if one kept staying in the environment. If, for any reason, one needed to get out of his long-stayed environment, he would get lost for various things. It is true in a working environment. If one were working in an office of relatively large organization, he would take it granted for some certain things, which his organization provided. He would lose supporting function. If he was in sales department, he had marketing, accounting, finance, delivery, and, in many cases, technical support from his company.

If he decided to go for his own business and resigned his organization, he is not quitting his company. He is quitting these supports, too. One gone independent sometimes found him to get lost, losing all supports he used to get. In his office, someone else planned, drew, and printed, and brought his own company brochures so that he could give them to his clients. Being independent, he needs to prepare a media, even not a brochure, which explains who he is and what he does. Somebody else used to take copies for him when he needed them. He needs to take his own copies after his independence. Papers! Who prepare papers for his copies? He needs to do it.

Facing a difficult client, he had office fiends, who he could discuss the situation. He now needs to consider and decide his action by himself. One needs to be careful on his mental situation in dealing with this change of environment. There are people who are depressed with these changes. Some may become even sick.

There was a real estate agent who went independent quite recently. He used to work in a good and wide office. He did not have to worry about who run his financial. He had support to do basics for him. His assistant took copies and stapled documents so that documents were ready for submitting to his clients.

He needed to take his own copies and stapled his documents for his clients. He could not invite his clients to her office, because his office was simply his garage room. He did not get depressed. He thought he should play smart. He tried to use resources of others as much as he could. There were several related people with his deals, such as banks, title companies, financial institutions, and agents from his counterpart, sometimes buyers' or sometimes sellers'. Oh, yes, he should not forget about his clients. His clients are prestigious people, since they are the ones who buy and sell properties. They had resources this independent real estate could use. He started to use PC in his client's home. He took his copies, using printers they had. He emailed documents and asked recipients to print. Gradually, this agent started to lose trust from his clients. These seem trivial things. However, human relationship could be harmed from small things. These are the ones, which people gone independent, should pay attention.

Everybody would agree that San Francisco is a romantic place. Christmas is a romantic season. It would be why this city is harmonious with Christmas. San Francisco appears in several Christmas songs. Among Christmas songs of the city, the most popular and famous one is "Christmas in San Francisco". Several musicians sang this song. Many Blogs are writing about this song in different languages. They include English, Chinese, and Japanese.

It starts; "Christmas in San Francisco. What a lovely place to be! Seeing the hills being all lit up like a diamond Christmas tree." Looking up the hilltop on California Street from the lower side on Grant, Karney, or Montgomery, lighting illuminations of both sides of California Street are breath-taking.

The song continues; "Hearing children singing carols, people come from everywhere to sing along with the children standing all around Union Square." Though The Bay Area does not have snow in Christmas season around the year, it is common to see this kind of typical Christmas scenes. Friendly San Francisco residents like to join visitors to sing with children.

"Let's take a peek in Chinatown, eating lychee nuts and barbecued boar. What can you say about the Golden Gate that hasn't been said before." It sings San Francisco's favorite places for both visitors and residents. Chinatown is the perfect place to unwind with tea and dumpling. Golden Gate Bridge appears in its lyric as a spectacular marvel.

The song enters into its ending with the lyric; "Christmas in San Francisco. There is no place quite so dear. It's the closest thing to heaven. How I wish that you were here." San Francisco is a romantic place to stay in Christmas. If one were with your spouse, partner, lover, boyfriend, or girlfriend, the city would be cheerful, enjoyable, and colorful place. Even one were alone in the city, like this song, the city would be warm, kind, and sympathetic to your loneliness.

Visitors can enjoy Christmas in San Francisco no matter where they are visiting. There are several places that visitors do not want to miss. The one on the top of the list is "Union Square". In addition to the world-famous Christmas tree in the square, Macy's dresses up with Christmas illumination. Tiffany's, Newman Marcus, Levis, and shops decorate their windows with colorful and glittering lighting. Decorations in hotels are extraordinary. Hotels, such as Westin Saint Francis, Handlery Union Square, Villa Florence, Grand Hyatt, or Hilton, all of them compete each other on their unique decorations. Either visitors or residents enjoy Christmas in this city.

It is the holiday season again. There are things, which make people feel like the holiday season. Christmas decorations, people's greetings, Christmas cards, phone calls from a family member lives in far away city. The music is the one on the top of the list among others. Especially, the music sings on the local area one lives, it gives him melancholic mood.

It is remarkable that San Francisco has Christmas songs, which refer to the city. Here is one of them. The name of this song is "Christmas By the Bay".

The song begins with the first phrase; "The silver bells are ringing with each passing cable car. An Irish coffee greets us at the Buena Vista Bar." It is remarkable the song goes very local from the opening.

The first phrase continues; "The Golden Gate is glowing on this cool December night. And the cities highest towers shine like presents wrapped in light." The Union Square is famous for the Christmas tree and decoration. Embarcadero shopping center buildings and Hyatt hotel decorate entire buildings. The view over this part of the city is remarkable when one drives over the Bay Bridge.

The song goes on; "The city sparkles now as the carols start to play. It's Christmas by the bay. Candles glow, and our hearts are light in a most familiar way." The city decoration and atmosphere of this season turns up ones' hearts.

"Where the stores are decorated and a chill is in the air. We'll be holding hands together by the tree in Union Square." This is San Franciscan's favorite phrase. San Francisco gives romantic environment for everybody. No matter who one is, a visitor, or a resident. San Francisco is romantic for lovers as this song, visitors with family, children, or lonesome travelers.

"Oh, it's Christmas by the bay. A time to celebrate in the San Francisco way. It's Christmas by the bay. I'm with you in my favorite place on my favorite holiday." All San Francisco people agree that there is "the San Francisco way" to celebrate the holiday season. Union Square, Embarcadero, or Fisherman's Wharf decorations are part of the San Francisco way. This song has a happy ending since the singer is "with you" in celebrating his holiday in his favorite place.

Rhythm and Blues like music is excellent. The rhythms and melody-lines were perfect for calming one down from the party excitement after he returns home with his partner. This is the song one can enjoy listening with your partner or family members late night of the holiday season. This picturesque song gives you a feeling as if you are watching "Slide Show" of Christmas scenery in San Francisco.

Since everyone imagines the snow in Christmas, San Francisco weather in winter is nothing like Christmas. Despite it, San Francisco appears in popular Christmas songs. The most famous is "Christmas in San Francisco". Another one is "Christmas by the bay". The last one is "It's Christmas once again in San Francisco". Since the author does not know any Christmas songs for New York, Chicago, or Los Angeles, for example, the city must have some harmony with Christmas. Such harmony may be the romantic atmosphere this city has.

Among these Christmas songs, "It's Christmas once again in San Francisco" is the one makes people happy and smile.

It starts with rhythmical country and western-style music; "It's Christmas once again in San Francisco. There is not a snowflake to be found. There are no sleigh rides or snowmen like I see on a Christmas card." This phrase is short but concise in describing the Bay Area in Christmas. It is short but enough to get people's attention.

The song continues; "Oh but we got a lot of Christmas in our heart." This short music line makes San Francisco people strongly nod and whisper in their brain; "Yes, we do. Yes, we do."

Next phrase repeats the first phrase. Women chorus joins in the main vocalist and goes; "It's Christmas once again in San Francisco. There is not a snowflake to be found. There are no sleigh rides or snowmen like I see on a Christmas card." This time it sounds more cheerful with women vocals. They make such a difference.

Early part ends with the repeating of the Bay Area people's mind; "Oh but we got a lot of Christmas, we got a lot of Christmas, we got a lot of Christmas in our heart." This part is also mixed vocal chorus and sounds more colorful. It sounds almost like seeing snow glittering.

This is the song singing for the Bay Area people. Many houses in the Bay Area started to dress up for Christmas with colorful lighting illumination. On eucalyptus Avenue in San Calros, Bay Area, there are houses extensively illuminating their homes for Christmas. Some of the houses there bring in snows for children to play. Children in San Francisco Bay Area look forward to Santa Claus coming. Although San Francisco does not have a weather like Christmas in many other areas, they share the spirit of Christmas. They celebrate Christmas like others. All San Francisco is looking forward to it. They feel exactly the song goes, "Oh but we got a lot of Christmas in our heart."

I found the secret of "Fill the Missing Link". After more than 20 years of being employed, I decided to become independent and self-employed. It was so much different being self-employed from being employed. For example, being employed, the company brand is already there and will be given, regardless you like it or not. But, being self-employed, you must get one like getting missing part of puzzle. This article describes my belief and basic concept how to apply the secret of this philosophy and be successful.

No matter what you do, who you are, life is like solving "jigsaw puzzle". You would like to complete the whole puzzle, but there are always missing parts. You do not want to give up your attempt, so you end up continuing to "Fill the Missing Link". By "finding the right piece of puzzle". When you can fill the missing part, being one-step closer to complete. Then, you see better picture, you will be a step ahead for completion. It also becomes easier to find the next missing piece.

This process is very constructive. You can build positive thinking and action by continuing this. It also seems to me that this theory applies not just for business, but also for life. We almost always have something missing for our lives. But, we cannot leave them to be missing. We continue to find someone, something, which can fill your missing part.

Either in life or in business, we all need someone who can help you "Finding a Piece of Puzzle" and "Filling the Missing Link". I would love to help you finding the piece and improve your business. This is my goal of my company business. This is not just concept. You will find this can be effective methodology for improvement of your business and life.

Here is an impressive experience of mine in Vietnam. In 1996, all Asian advanced countries were so much interested in doing business with Vietnam or in Vietnam. We were looking for an opportunity to form a Joint Venture with Vietnamese company. Ho Chi Ming City, Sigon was full of people. They were riding bikes, circling around in the city, selling bags on streets, talking with each other in loud voice. They were full of energy. I always stayed in New World Hotel in Ho Chi Ming City. One weekend, my friend has his family schedule, so he excused leaving me alone for entire weekend. Honestly, I was glad that I could explore in the city. Saturday afternoon, I went out of the hotel entrance to walk. I tried to walk across to the other side of the front road. I could not do that. So many bikes and motorbikes were going around. Despite that Vietnamese people walk across the road, I could not find a moment even start walking across.

I walked around my hotel about half an hour founding no chance to walk across any part of the road. The traffic was not so fast but so heavy, I did not feel I could go across the road safely. After half an hour of effort in vain, I gave up and walked back in to my hotel. The hotel was modernized. They had western style restaurant, Chinese style food, exercise room, running machine, training bicycles, meeting rooms, communication rooms with PC and fax machines, and so forth. My stay was comfortable. Giving up exploring in the city, I started working on my computer. It was almost sun set when my room phone rang and my office colleague wanted to send me a fax document for me to work on. Having not so much things to do for the rest of the weekend, I was half glad I had something to do. I told him my fax number.

It was funny that I waited for more than 2 hours, my fax had not come in. I called hotel staff and they told me I received no fax. I called up Tokyo and found my colleague is still preparing for his fax. I told him I would go down and eat dinner. I had several beers in my dinner and came back to my room sleepy. I thought I could work on his fax next day. The next day is Sunday and I had no plan anyway. I crawled into bed and slept.

It was passed midnight I was awakened by someone who is loudly banging my door. Shaking sleepy head I woke up, dressed, and walked toward the door. I asked what it was. A hotel crew answered back loudly, "Sir, you received a fax". I was a little upset because I was disturbed my sleep. I slammed open the door and asked, "How come you did not just slide in the fax from the bottom of the door?" He looked a little surprised. He sounded wonder why my reaction was kind of harsh. He answered, "Well, sir, I thought the fax is needed to be delivered urgently. That is why they fax you, right, sir?" His answer backed me off. He is right. They faxed it because they needed to fax it to me. I explained that I was sleeping and half drunk. I thanked him and tried to tip him. He excused my tip and said he was glad he could be useful for me.

This hotel crew taught me that we could not react from our own judgment when we are in the different country, different cultural background.

How do you feel if your company fires you after long years of your working for them? What do you think will happen next after you left your office you were familiar? You must be thinking who replaces you and who takes your office, and who will take over your works you once was so enthusiastically pursued.

You wonder what was all the effort you put in for your work, your company, even putting family matters aside. You might have taken next earliest possible flight for business trip leaving unhappy your family behind. How dear this company still could dump me!

I myself went through this experience in the process of being independent from my previous employer after 20 years of. I know personally how difficult it is. However, you should not be suffering from it too much. You need to know that it is your mind tricking yourself and torturing you. It is important for me to make sure that these people shall not suffer, go through all the pains, fell like meaningless trash of society. I would like you to enjoy the transit from employment to ex-employment.

Now, it is about the time to set your mental status of being ex-employed and enjoy the process. You can either try to find next job or go independent to be your own. You can be excited and enjoying the process of starting something new for you and your family.

If you decide to be a business owner who is ex-employment after long years of hard work for a company, you must have felt strong, ambitious, anticipating, rigorous, expecting all new challenges in front of you.

Yet, sometimes you feel depressed. You feel small, sad, lost, disconnected. Despite that you used to hate your employer, company, office, boss, you miss them. Feel isolated and lonely.

Even you feel only something worse will be coming after enough bad happened. You feel different in talking with people. You are afraid that people look down on you, laughing at you. You are afraid of calling, talking, taking challenges, though you were so much anticipated to be your own. I felt this way. It took me long time to got out of this kind of condition.

Your strongest supporter in your new business challenge is your family. But you cannot talk with your family about it because it will make your family feel unsecured. You hope that your family feels strong about you, don't you?

But, there is a solution to get out of this kind of depressed mental situation. You accept your problem and address it with people who you can trust. Get associated with the people who has same problem. Especially talk with someone who could overcome these problems. Remember 3 things:
1. It is your own mind which plays trick on you. If you redirect your mind, you can take a look at the bright side of the things.
2. Be straight and be honest to accept your problems. Everybody will have problems if they are put in your position.
3. Don't hesitate or feel ashamed to ask for help. Ask help for someone who you can trust. It is better if you can get help from someone who had same experience as yours.
Have you read a textbook for driving? I have not until I was forced to do so by traffic violation ticket agent, taking driving test again in Tokyo. It was back in 1978. In 1985, my employer that time transferred me to New York. I needed to take driving test in New Jersey Department of Motor Vehicle in April that year. Since there were enough materials for the test such as Japanese reference books, past record of test questions and answers, I did not have to read the driving textbook of New Jersey State. There was nothing I could do one weekend, I decided to read through the driving textbook one time for making sure I could pass the writing test.

As reading, I found there are some differences in the way the driving textbook was written between New Jersey State one and Japanese one. Putting language matters aside, I found New Jersey one spent more than 3 pages explaining how accidents happen and how you can cope with them. For example, New Jersey textbook was explaining when your car gets out of control in high speed driving, you should not collide cars going to opposite direction. You should avoid head on head collision by all means. It continued that you should collide something stopping still, instead. It further suggested that you should select to collide some other cars going toward same direction as yours, if you could.

In my experience in Japan, reading driving textbook and attending traffic schools, no Japanese textbook explained how to cope with accidents, no instructor in the traffic school I attended explained about it. This caused me to think about why there are this kind of differences of approach in driving textbooks.

It is my opinion based on several conversations with my Japanese and American friends that basic understanding about traffic accidents are different between US and Japan. US or Western Culture believes that accidents will occur, no matter how drivers were cautious, conservative, and safety conscious. An accident could happen due to mechanical failure. Also it could be caused by another driver driving close to you at the time of accident. Therefore, it is logically reasonable that a driving textbook has full explanation on them as much as helpful.

On the other hand, Japanese approach to car accidents is a little bit different. They believe that car accidents are bad things that should not occur. Or car accidents are the things drivers should avoid by all means. They would admit that accidents do happen. But they believe that preventive maintenance is more important than explaining how to deal with accidents. So their driving textbook is talking about how to check their car before long distance driving, make sure that you do not drive into harsh weather, sleep well in previous nights, wear comfortable clothes and shoes, etc, etc...

For relatively long time, I was thinking that New Jersey driving textbook approach is better than Japanese one. Accidents happen. It is good to learn how to cope with accidents. But, quite recently, I started to think that Japanese approach might not be so bad. They are trying to teach us that we should determine not to cause an accident or should be well prepared so that we should not have any anxiety for an accident, so that we would be able to drive with full confidence.

I do not intend to give you my judgment to decide which is better. It may be the best if we can do both. We can be preventive maintenance conscious, at the same time conscious about coping with an accident. There are some small things that tell us cultural background and difference.
You flew to Tokyo for the discussion meeting with this Japan Software for your next project. You did your homework and the presentation went quite well. You dined with the Japan software staff and drank and sang together. You thought your trip purpose was 99% made. Their staff sent you off to your hotel and made sure you went back to your hotel safely. You slept well that night, despite that you usually do not sleep well with a different pillow than from your home. You thought they are treating you that well because they like your project, and you are sure you could make this deal done next day.

The next morning, Japan Software sent the same person to pick you up and they took you to their office. They were kind, courteous, and nice, smiling. In their office they added more software engineers for your meeting. You thought again you are very close to your success in getting your project done. Only the thing you noticed is that they did not get to your business points. They talked about unrelated or general things such as the general computer market in the US, stock plunged last week, what was the cause of it, etc, etc...

You became a bit frustrated so you stood up and requested to get back to business points. They looked a little shocked but regained smile and started to talk to each other to themselves. It took a while finishing talking to themselves. The oldest guy from Japan Software started to talk:
"Yes, Mr. Smith (whoever the name could be), we all found your project looks very interesting. We did our internal meeting yesterday and early today. There are some points which are VERY DIFFICULT for us."

You need to clarify asking him:
"Well, Difficulty? Uhmmm... OK, let me ask you what kind of DIFFICULTY you are talking about? Technical difficulty? Schedule difficulty? Budget difficulty? Staffing difficulty, or what?"

Mr. Japan Soft looked a little embarrassed. He needed to talk back to his Japanese staff and answered:
"Umh, it is a general difficulty. It involves some technical, some staffing. It is difficult, anyway."

You are more confused. So you asked him again:
"Well, why don't you tell me what is your challenge here. We may be able to help you with that. We will be able to address and discuss about it."

Mr. Japan Soft:
"Mr. Smith, it is not a matter of challenge, it is DIFFICULTY."

This conversation can stop here. I need to tell you that you will not be able to get this deal done. No chance.

I would like to show you how Mr. Japan Soft would have thought in his mind during this conversation:
"Oh my goodness, this person never understands I am saying it is DIFFICULT. He must have recognized by now that it is impossible for us to do this project."

There are 2 things we can learn from here:
1. The fact that the Japanese company treats you well has nothing to do with business. They will do the same to anybody who visits to this company. The majority of Japanese are trained to be courteous even to their enemies. They will be more polite if they know that they need to say "NO" to you. This is confusing even among Asian cultures and causes misunderstanding that Japanese are double sided.

2. The Japanese word for DIFFICULT is nothing so much different from English. It does not mean impossible. But, in this case, Mr. Japan Soft meant it was impossible, hoping that Mr. Smith understand that it is impossible and they do not want to make this deal in softer way. This way of saying is quite common in Japan even in business. For Mr. Japan's mentality, it is too harsh to say it is impossible.

Isn't there any way to avoid this kind of misunderstanding? Yes, there is. You could set a rule before your meeting starts. Your opening statement could be:
"I like to be straight. If I go too straight, I apologize now. But let's go straight and clear so that we do not leave any misunderstanding behind."

Once upon a time in China, there was a huge tree in a rich family's back yard. In spring and summer, the tree opens branches with full green leaves. The trunk was like dragon body, thick and strong. The people in nearby village were wondering how many houses could be built with the tree. Furniture people hoped to use the tree to build furniture. They helped each other to somehow cut down the tree to get wooden materials from the tree to be used for building houses and furniture.

No matter what kind of axes or saws they use, no matter how many powerful people try to cut it, all of their effort ended in vain. The tree was too hard to cut. They gave up to cut it down. They said the tree is huge, but not be used for anything. They called it useless.

One hot summer day, an ancient philosopher, called Zhuang Zhou found the tree. It was hot and Zhuang Zhou was tired from long walking. He lied down on the foot of the tree and took a nap. The shade of the tree was perfect to protect him from strong sun light in summer. In the shade, a gentle breeze was very comfortable. He slept for a couple of hours and felt refreshed. After he left, the villagers realized the real use of the tree. Nobody call it "useless" any more.

This story tells us the value of things can be changed depending on how you view it, how you use it. Huge useless tree to build a house was perfect for providing shade to take a nap

This story is originally from Zhuang Zi, who is regarded to be one of founders of Taoism. Usually Taoism is regarded as Anarchism or the principle of living only for the pleasure of the moment. Later Taoism's mysterious stories gave a birth to Shen Xian, who eat and drink just mist, travel on clouds, knows everything in the world including future, and lives forever. Even today Taoism is known as mysticism with the above mentioned Shen Xian who conduct mysterious magic such as talking with dead people or cure seriously sick people.

It reminds us Western Witchcraft, since they use supernatural power like witches or wizards. But taking another look at the philosophy like the above story of big tree, the basic principle of Taoism teaches people to take a different view in lives occurrences. As big tree, which could not be used for building a house or furniture, was perfect shade for taking a nap. In this way, saddest or most painful incidence may be great step for future.

Actually, it includes the story of a villager, who broke his leg in riding his own horse, survived next war, because he could not fight with his leg broken.
Zhen International is a company formed 10 years ago. It is becoming 11 years old in year 2013. It could not last this long without help from people. I am very grateful on all the help rendered for me. Before I formed this company, earlier in my carrier stage, I worked for a Japanese electronics company for 20 years. Becoming an assistant manager in 1988, I started to study how to be a good manager. It included emotional control for better performance and better management.

Later, company recommended me to develop own scheme to control myself and teach our team member. My team used to hear I say:
"Do not show it when you are angry. Use your anger to get what you need to achieve in business. Control your emotions so that they do not harm your business or life. Use them to benefit yourself instead."

This concept used to give me confidence and comfort in the way I could control my emotions to the extent that my emotion did not damage any of my business or relationship. I was comfortable to ask my team members same.

It was end of the year 2000 when I faced a decision if I should quit the company and start my own or stay. I made a decision to quit and tried to start my own business. It was my own decision and I believed that I am emotionally stable.
Then, in my effort of starting up my own company, which was supposed to be full of fun, I found myself out of control of my own emotions. Resentment, remorse, instability, confusion, and depression constantly attacked me. My emotion went out of control in a very sensitive and critical moment. The worst is that all these negative emotions hit me same time and I did not know what to do. I had never went to a hospital, but I might have some psychological problem called panic attack. Luckily my wife helped me and I could gradually regain my emotional stability. From this experience taught me a precious lesson how difficult to control our emotions.

It was near end of last year when my wife and I were looking for information on IQ level of dogs on Internet, we happened to find the word "Emotional IQ". We were interested and did further research on the definition.

According to the information in Internet, Emotional IQ and Emotional Intelligence are almost same meaning and definition. Emotional IQ is the ability, capacity, skill or, a self-perceived ability to identify, assess, and manage the emotions of ourselves, of others, and of groups.

I have been aware there are several therapies, which is not known in outside of US, such as emotional control or anger management. But, I was not aware that there is a study trying to measure ability of controlling emotions until last year.

If you acquire an ability to perceive and control your emotion and others, you can have better control over your life, business. Most importantly, if you are confident and comfortable controlling your own emotion under no matter what kind of panicky situation, you can be more relaxed all the time. You can be very much peaceful in your mind in your life. That is why I believe learning and knowing on Emotional IQ is very important for all of us.

Recently the news about the Japanese car recall have drawn my attention. How have things gone wrong in these cases? Japanese car manufactures must have many international staff as well as American management. While they continues to be the leading car manufacturers in the world, their approach to this incident was so typical Japanese. And it caused misunderstandings and confusion in American users. This recall itself might not have been so bad if their highest management decided to appear in public earlier and open all of the information they have on the possible technical problems.

This is an article to show what is the typical Japanese decision-making process and the how different it is from an American one. The intention of this article is to point out the difference, not to evaluate or criticize.

In many cases of my involvement of international business, a Japanese company had been in this critical situation, even it was clear that Japanese made a mistake, they could not change their attitude and decision. Thus it resulted in either losing a huge business opportunity or it would make their counterpart so angry that they would not be able to further pursue the business relationship they had originally intended on.

Instead, American companies seem to be more flexible in accepting their mistake and change their decision or business strategy, saving their own business opportunity and, most importantly, the relationship.

If we can accept our own mistakes, the actions we need to take are relatively simple. We accept we made a mistake, apologize, and propose a correction. American organizations are good at doing this sort of correction. This flexibility may come from a religious principle of forgiveness. People make mistakes. Once a mistake is made, being flexible is much better than to stick to the mistake and stubbornly lose everything.

Now on the other hand, the Japanese approach is based on the "save face" or "lose face" concept. Japanese people tend to hate someone who cannot consistently keep their promises. They regard it is losing face. So they try not to accept mistakes so that they do not have to break their promises and lose face. Even if they know they made a mistake, they do not want to accept it because they will lose face by accepting it.

And they try to hide it. Then they try to modify it in a way publicly unknown to save face. This makes the entire process of correction very complicated. In many cases the business decision priority would be shifted from saving business to saving face by hiding the fact that they made a mistake. The end result could be devastating. It is a simple fact that they are not so good at saying "Oops, we made a mistake. Sorry."

In answering my own question, I have to admit the Japanese are stubborn and not good at apologizing, when it comes to accept their mistakes.

It was summer 2000 when I visited China for the first time in my life. It was almost funny that I have not visited China until then, because I have almost grown up with Chinese History Books. So the feeling of mine was like filling my own missing link.

It was when I was age 5, even before elementary school when my grand mother gave me this cartoon book called "Sai-Yu-Ki" - Travel to West-. That was the cartoon book about adventurous trip of a Chinese priest to Afghanistan and India to obtain Buddhism Book to China. In this book, of course more than half fiction, other than this priest existed in Chinese History and he traveled to India to get Buddhism book to localize Buddhism to China.

In the story, this priest accompanies three monsters guards, Monkey Monster, Pig Monster, and Sand Monster assigned by Buddha. They all have special fighting powers and skills. This was the story of Monkey Monster exercising his miraculous fighting power and skills, fighting against all odds and evil monsters to protect his master priest to safely bring Indian Buddhism Books to China.

This Monkey Monster grows in protecting his master priest, learning from his master, and practicing Buddhism. Going through all the fighting and adventure helping the priest's safety, he brings himself closer and closer to Buddhism principle and finally became Monkey God, as one of Buddha's protective guards, after he finished his mission to send his master priest to India.

In addition to this "Monkey God" story, there were a lot of Chinese Historical Books in junior and senior high school days, such as "3 Countries History" whereas 3 countries kings fight for unified China, "Sui-Fu" -Story of Private Organization fight against old and corrupted government-, so on and so forth. In this way, in addition to the fact that China is my wife's home country, I did not feel China to be foreign country for long time.

In that trip to China, my wife took me to Beijing, Great Walls, Anshan, Sheng Yung. I visited China several times since then. But, I have not visited there for more than 3 years now. My wife and I are planning to go to China coming summer. I am looking forward to it. I am looking forward to see my wife's family and friends.

While my wife's favorite city is Shanghai, my favorite is Beijing. Beijing is old castle city. Its history goes all the way back 3000 years ago, when it was originally called Yan Jing. It is not just history, the food there is excellent and reasonably priced. It was my 3rd trip while waiting for our table is ready in world famous Peking duck restaurant, my Chinese friend offered me and almost forced me to eat Scorpion fry. It was weird, but it was not as bad as first felt. It tasted like shrimp.

In there, I can feel exactly how Japanese people before World War II felt so eager to get out of Japan to go and live in China. China has dynamism that Japan does not have. The country is definitely one of my favorites.
