What our new family member gave us -2

This house was perfect for us keeping a dog. There was back yard totally closed from outside, front yard was green. Also we had a lot of plan, taking our Xue Er for trainings, walking in Burlingame Avenue as other dog lovers were doing over the weekend.

One afternoon of April, our landlady knocked our door and she told us that it is breach of rent agreement keeping a pet. When we moved in, we already had 3 birds so we had a presumption that pets are OK. She told us either we need to give up the dog or move out. As an option, she offered $400 more rent payment until October 2009 when the first year ends. I asked what would happen after November. She answered there is no guarantee if she wanted to extend the rent.

It was about 2 weeks since Xue Er (Snowy) came to our house. She started to naughty and started to bite my wife. We discussed over the situation including giving her up. There are some family member advised to us it does not make sense to give up rent for a dog. The breeder, Susan said that 2 weeks Spitz baby could be sold with no problem.

But the question was if we should give up Xue Er who came to our life so easily. She is living for God sake! We came back and forth if we should give up Xue Er or rent for about a week.

Hi Shaw .. what an emotional ride .. life can be so trying .. I do hope things resolve themselves .. and I'll find out with your next post.

I gave up my dog in South Africa .. but I moved to single life, small house etc .. and he needed space and a family .. kids etc .. so I went via the Bull Terrier Club to get a good home .. I still 'cry' for him .. & miss him .. little devil!! I just hope he had a happy life ..

Thanks - with tears in my eyes .. to your next post!

Shaw, that is a hard choice. We feel for you on the choice that you have to make. It is a hard one. it is hard when someone else has the main choice (when renting).

Hi Shaw,

The analytical side of me says $400 is a big increase. The house is probably not worth that much additional rent!

A puppy does need to be trained! Yes, pupplies will tear things up and demand a lot of attention. He is training you!

My suggestion is to go with your heart! Do what you will feel good about doing!

Best Regards

Please stay tuned. I will tell you exactly what happened in continuous posts.
